project reflection

For this project, I set out to explore what it is to work in a digital world to me, through the theme of Digital Comfort. As a UX designer, it's my job to help users adjust to the digital world from being in the real world by creating logical and familiar interfaces that reduce strain on the user. My goal was to design a prototype that supports users emotionally and practically, encouraging a gentle transition from being outdoors to interacting with a digital interface. The outcome is a walking app called Meander, which reflects this through a low-pressure user experience.

Overall, I’m happy with how the final prototype reflects the theme of my initial concept. I feel the use of calming colours, rounded UI components, and soft typography helped build the tone of comfort I was aiming for. The inclusion of a mindfulness screen after the walk, rather than jumping straight into statistics, felt like a design choice that aligned with my theme and the research I carried out.

One area I think I could improve is user testing. I relied heavily on secondary research and the theoretical application of UX principles, but I would have benefited from testing the prototype with users to get direct feedback on how it made them feel. That said, I feel this project successfully communicates the idea that digital tools can, and should, create emotional ease.
